Xàbia Tackles Pool Energy Costs with New Solar Installation
Photovoltaic project cuts expenses and boosts sustainability at the municipal swimming pool.
Xàbia Council has awarded the contract for the installation of a photovoltaic plant on the roof of the municipal swimming pool, a key step within its broader strategy focused on sustainability, energy efficiency and the optimization of public spending.
This project addresses a significant shortcoming that has existed since the facility was first designed, as the municipal pool has until now lacked its own energy generation system, resulting in high operating costs for the local authority.
The contract includes the installation of a 100 kW nominal power photovoltaic system for self-consumption with zero grid feed-in. The system will be installed on the roof of the municipal pool, located off Avinguda dels Furs, and will consist of 228 photovoltaic panels with a total peak output of 114 kWp, along with all the necessary infrastructure for operation and connection to the building’s internal grid.
The initial tender budget amounted to €137,620.97 (VAT included), attracting a total of 29 bidders. The contract has ultimately been awarded to Autoconsumo y Eficiencia Energética, S.L. for €58,080 (VAT included), representing a significant reduction from the original projected cost.
This project will support the town’s energy transition, reducing both the energy costs of public facilities and the emissions associated with electricity consumption, in line with its sustainability goals.
