Xàbia Officials Explore Next-Generation Safety Solutions at Madrid’s SICUR Expo
Technical visit focuses on modern protective gear, emergency vehicles, and upgrading local response capabilities.
The councillor responsible for Security and Emergencies, Juan Ortolá (CpJ), Councillor Fátima Jarjor (PP), and the Chief Superintendent of the Policía Local de Xàbia, José Antonio Monfort, together with operational leaders from Xàbia’s Protección Civil Volunteer Group, carried out a technical visit to the International Security Exhibition, SICUR, held in Madrid. The aim was clear: to take a close look at cutting-edge equipment and intervention resources designed to strengthen emergency response services.
During the visit, the delegation met with specialist manufacturers and distributors in the emergency sector. Particular attention was given to the potential acquisition of new Personal Protective Equipment certified under current European regulations. This included high-visibility garments, protection against mechanical and thermal risks, technical gloves, and safety footwear designed for demanding operational environments.

The team also conducted a comparative review of various light intervention and logistics vehicles. They assessed technical configurations, load capacity, and compatibility with emergency equipment, laying the groundwork for a phased renewal of the fleet’s older and more heavily used units.
The visit allowed officials to gather detailed technical information, specialist catalogues, and preliminary cost proposals. These materials will now be reviewed by the relevant municipal departments as part of the ongoing planning and continuous improvement of the Protección Civil’s material resources.
This initiative forms part of the municipality’s broader strategy to modernize its Security and Emergency services, with the goal of enhancing operational response capacity, strengthening the safety of frontline personnel, and ensuring residents receive efficient, up-to-date public service.
