Xàbia limits construction noise during the summer to protect residents’ peace of mind
During July and August, noisy work is prohibited between 3.00pm and 5.00pm then 8.00pm and 9.00am the following day and all day Sundays and fiesta days.
With the arrival of the summer season and the increase in the number of tourists, Xàbia Council has issued a municipal order to maintain the right to rest for residents and visitors during the months of July and August. The regulations establish specific restrictions, from July 1st to August 31st, on noisy construction work and projects that could disturb the tranquility of the urban environment.
According to the decree, a clear distinction is made between daytime and nighttime hours, with activity permitted from 9.00am to 3.00pm and then from 5.00pm to 8.00pm. The rest of the hours are nighttime hours, so noisy work should not be carried out.
Specifically, construction and other work that produce noise is expressly prohibited between 3.00pm and 5.00pm and then from 8.00pm until 9.00pm the following day, as these are particularly sensitive periods for rest. On Sundays and fiesta days, any activity that generates noise or vibrations is prohibited throughout the day.
The decree also establishes that no work may be carried out on public roads, except in cases of emergency or by municipal services. Furthermore, if significant disturbances or high noise levels are detected, the local council may order the immediate suspension of disruptive activities until the deficiencies are corrected.
The Policía Local will be responsible for supervising compliance with these provisions. Any violation will be sanctioned in accordance with current legal regulations. The local council also appeals for public cooperation to ensure a more habitable and respectful environment during these months.
