Xàbia Folk Returns for Its 24th Edition with a Fresh, Rooted Sound
Six groups, four dates, and a musical journey that bridges tradition and today.
Details have been unveiled for the 24th edition of Xàbia Folk, which is set to take place on April 17 and May 8, 9 and 10 across various venues around town. The press conference was attended by the councillor responsible for Culture, Mavi Pérez (CPJ), the festival representative Toni Torregrosa, and members of La Romàntica del Saladar, Tolo Bas and Joan Buigues, who will be collaborating on one of this year’s concerts.
Organisers highlighted the festival’s steady rise as a cultural landmark, as well as the strength and diversity of this year’s programme, which blends Valencian talent with artists from neighbouring regions.
The 2026 line up features three Valencian acts that each showcase a different facet of the region’s folk scene. Trobadorets brings family friendly music, Jorge Gumbau explores the rich vein of popular song, and Va de Dones focuses on traditional repertoire. Together, they reflect a scene that is both deeply rooted and very much alive.

The other three acts travel from La Mancha, Catalonia and Mallorca. Karmento, La Baula and Pitxorines include both established and emerging names with growing national profiles. All three are performing for the first time at festivals in the Valencian region, adding fresh perspectives to contemporary folk.

The festival opens on Friday 17th April with a full day of music. At midday in Plaça de l’Església, Trobadorets will present Creixem, a lively, hands on show designed for the whole family. In the evening, Jorge Gumbau takes to the Casa de Cultura with Barreja, his debut album rooted in Valencian oral tradition. The night continues back in the square with La Baula and Cançons a l’Ombra, a journey through ballads and rediscovered melodies given new musical colours.
Xàbia Folk resumes on Friday 8th May in Plaça de la Constitució with Karmento, who will perform La Serrana in a concert featuring special collaborations with La Romàntica del Saladar. On Saturday 9th May , the same square will host Pitxorines and their vibrant take on Mallorcan folk in Sa Falda Girada.
The festival closes on Sunday 10th May at midday at the Ermita de Santa Llúcia, perched on its emblematic hilltop. There, Va de Dones will offer a concert of traditional Valencian songs viewed through a gender conscious lens, letting heritage and landscape resonate together.
Throughout it all, Xàbia Folk stays true to its spirit: recovering, honouring and projecting music with deep roots while letting it breathe in the present. With free concerts in open and historic spaces, the festival brings culture into the streets and strengthens the musical identity of the region, one song at a time.
