Tourism offers official guided tours in English to discover Xàbia’s history
Two theatrical routes are available over the summer to discover more about the development of the town.
Tourist Info Xàbia Centre is launching a series of official guided tours through the heart of the town’s historic centre, available in several languages—including English. These tours offer visitors a unique opportunity to delve into Xàbia’s fascinating past, from its medieval roots to the prosperous Golden Age of the Raisin, a period that brought wealth and recognition to the region in the 19th century.
Led by expert guides, the tours explore the narrow cobbled streets, ancient architecture, and hidden stories that shaped the town’s identity over the centuries. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a long-time admirer, these tours promise new insights into Xàbia’s cultural and historical heritage.
The Golden Age of Xàbia
This fun theatrical guided tour in English offers a fresh way to explore 19th-century Xàbia. Two rival entrepreneurs from the golden age of the raisin trade come face to face in the streets of the old town, trading barbs and memories as they recount the customs, daily life, and transformation of their beloved town.
Through their spirited rivalry, visitors will uncover the fascinating story of how Xàbia evolved, both socially and architecturally, culminating in the major changes brought about by the booming raisin industry. It’s history told with heart, humour, and a healthy dose of local flavour.
