The municipal Department of Sports has organised another open water swimming competition across the wide bay of Xàbia for the morning of Sunday 3rd July.

The councillor responsible for Sports, Alberto Tur, explained that there will be three tests with different distances for each swimmer profile so that the participants can choose which to compete in based on their level or objectives.

The 3,000 metre category is for those who want to face the hardest challenge, a course that starts from the Arenal beach and follows the coast northwards to the beach of La Grava in the port.

The 1,500 metre category is for those who want to test themselves on a medium level, joining the course along the Primer Montañar and also finishing at the beach of La Grava in the port whilst the 500 metre category is aimed at beginners and runs entirely to and from the beach of La Grava in the port.

The registration period open this Friday 20th May, online on the website www.crono4sports.es, and will remain open until Thursday 30th June. All participants will receive some snacks and drink as well as a souvenir gift. The local council will also provide a dedicated bus service to return participants to their point of departure.

The councillor has encouraged all swimming fans to participate in this special event and enjoy the sea as a space for sports and especially a friendly bay such as that of Xàbia on a date when the temperature of the Mediterranean is more than pleasant.

The competition will count as usual with the collaboration of different sports clubs in Xàbia to guarantee safety, such as the Centro Excursionista, Club de Padel Surf, Club de Atletisme Llebeig, Club Náutico de Jávea and Club de Remo. as well as the local Red Cross and association such as Marina Nou Fontana.

For many years, you’ve told us how much you love what we’re doing and some of you have even asked for ways to say thanks. For us, there really is nothing easier to show someone how much you appreciate their efforts than buying them a beer (or a wine; or even a coffee) – it’s so simple.
