Action on the beach and in the square as the Moorish troops reenact the invasion of the Iberian peninsula.
As the sun dipped toward the horizon, boats heavy with Moors appeared off La Grava beach, a symbolic reenactment of the historic landing of North African invaders in 711 AD, which marked the beginning of nearly eight centuries of rule over the Iberian Peninsula. Cannon fire thundered, swords clashed with sparks flying, and the ultimate battle fought. After a fierce exchange, the castle finally surrendered, and the crescent moon flag was hoisted above its turrets. Xàbia had become Moorish.
