Overnight stays in hotels in the Valencian region increased by 5.9% in April compared to 2024 and exceeded 2.6 million
The number of travelers in hotels in the Comunidad Valenciana has grown considerably in the last month, with a 9.6% year-on-year increase, with 893,836 registered travelers.
Hotels in the Comunidad Valenciana recorded a total of 2,676,657 overnight stays in April, representing a 5.9% increase compared to the same month last year, according to data released this Friday by the National Statistics Institute (INE).
The results of the Hotel Occupancy Survey also show that the number of travellers in hotels in the region grew considerably last month, which included Easter, with a 9.6% year-over-year increase, with 893,836 registered travelers.
The growth has been driven primarily by domestic tourism, which saw a 13.6% year-over-year increase in the number of overnight stays, recording a total of 1,284,863 last month.
With these results, the Comunidad Valenciana ranked as the third most popular destination for travellers residing in Spain in April, accounting for 12.8% of the total overnight stays recorded nationwide.
The Regional Minister of Innovation, Industry, Trade, and Tourism, Marián Cano, welcomed the data, noting that “hotels in the Comunidad Valenciana are showing signs of recovery after achieving these good results during the Easter holiday and after a moderate start to the year.”
In this context, she explained that “the increase in domestic travellers to Valencian hotels and the positive performance of foreign tourism allow us to face the high season with optimism, especially if the improvements observed this past month are consolidated,” adding that “the Comunidad Valenciana remains a preferred destination for both domestic and international tourism,” for whom it is essential “to continue working to ensure this growth continues throughout the year.”
Along these lines, she advocated continuing to strengthen the promotion of our destinations and supporting the tourism business community, which “is key to the economic and social development of the Comunidad Valenciana.”
Occupancy Rate and First Quarter Results
The same Hotel Occupancy Survey published this Friday by the INE (National Institute of Statistics and Census) shows that the occupancy rate in hotels in the Comunidad Valenciana stood at 59.4% last month, with a virtually stable monthly year-on-year variation. Meanwhile, the number of estimated hotel beds was 4.6% higher than the previous year, with a total of 145,674 beds.
Regarding the cumulative total for the first four months of the year, hotels in the Comunidad Valenciana reached 8,020,569 overnight stays, with a total of 2,716,801 travellers, both figures similar to the same period in 2024.
