Music and literature on offer in the run-up to October 9 in Xàbia

The long weekend schedule is packed with cultural offerings for all tastes.

The Department of Culture in Xàbia has prepared an exciting programme for all tastes as part of the October 9th ‘Día de la Comunitat Valenciana’ celebrations which include the musical show ‘Balansiyyà’ featuring Grup Polifònic ARS NOVA and the Centre Artístic Musical de Xàbia (CAM) as well as other enjoyable events.

This Friday 6th October at 5.30pm, the public library in Duanes de la Mar will be hosting the first session of ‘La Mar de Contes’, the children’s storytelling season which encourages the younger members of the community to enjoy reading. The selected book is ‘El Mag d’Oz’, the classic book ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’ by L.Frank Baum which will be read in Valencian.

Also this Friday at 7.30pm at the same location, there will be a presentation of the book ‘Ferrum und Stähl’ by Juan Ramón Moscad Fumadó, a work set in the bay of Portitxol with a plot which mixes current events with other historical periods such as the Roman era. The presentation will be in Spanish.

On Saturday 7th October at 8.00pm in the Plaza de la Constitución, there will be a performance of the musical ‘Balansiyyà’ by the Grup Polifònic ARS NOVA and the Centre Artístic Musical de Xàbia (CAM). Admission will free.

On Sunday 8th October at 9.00pm in the Plaça Comare Maruja Varó in Duanes de la Mar, there will be a performance by a quartet of percussionists from the Marina Alta ensemble entitled ‘Concert Connecta Percussió’.
