MORE THAN 1.6 MILLION PEOPLE USED ALICANTE TRAM SERVICE IN MARCH

The number of travellers increased by 13.6% on the same month in 2022 with almost 195,000 more people.

The TRAM d’Alacant service transported 1,626,819 people in March, an increase of 13.59% on the same period last year, some 194,587 more passengers. The service operates in the city of Alicante and its surrounding areas, including the single line between Benidorm and Dénia.

Altogether, Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV), which includes Metrovalencia and TRAM d’Alacant, saw 12,189,220 trips in March, which represents 7.55% more than the same month in 2023, some 856,411 more travellers.

The number of passengers per line during March 2024 was as follows:

  • L1 (Luceros-Benidorm): 325,140
  • L2 (Luceros-San Vicente del Raspeig): 660,307
  • L3 (Luceros-El Campello): 253,346
  • L4 (Luceros-Plaza La Coruña): 189,725
  • L5 (Porta de Mar-Plaza La Coruña): 98,534
  • L9 (Benidorm-Dénia) 99,766

Wednesday 27th March was the busiest day on the network with 77,331 recorded trips.

In terms of the mount of traffic through stations, Luceros, the main terminal in the city of Alicante, led the way with 259,661 passengers, followed by Mercado (Alicante) with 192,745, and Benidorm with 114,933 trips.

Service Update L9: From April 9th 2024 to September 2nd 2024, improvement works between Olla Altea and Calp stations means that the tram service is closed and the section will be served by bus. Click here for more information.
