A great goal from home debutant Gabriel secured three valuable points for the home side to lift them off the bottom of the table.
A splendid goal on 38 minute from new signing Gabriel, making his home debut, secured three valuable points for CD Jávea and, with Santa Pola CF losing at CD Olímpic, the victory lifts the rojiblancos off the bottom of the table and within a point of safety.
Jávea began the better team against a side that had set the pace earlier in the season and still held high hopes of claiming at least a play-off spot at the end of the campaign. With veteran midfielder Javi returning the centre of the park to direct his young teammates, the rojiblancos looked a confident side. The speedy striker Gabriel, making his full debut in front of a passionate home crowd, constantly put pressure on the opposition defensive line to clear the ball without much time and his effort was rewarded on 38 minutes when he opened the scoring with a great goal.
In the second half, the rojiblancos looked more like the side on the tail end of last season, giving no concessions in the back line, taking absolute control of the midfield, and snuffing out attempted attacks by the opposition wide men, all the while encouraged by an animated head coach Julio Ivorra from the stands after his dismissal during the derby game last weekend.
As the final whistle sounded, both players and fans celebrated a great victory as well as the second successive clean sheet. Four points from the last two games against potentially difficult opponents should lift the confidence of this young team as they prepare for a massive six-pointer next weekend, an away trip to fellow strugglers Santa Pola CF.
