It was the match of the week — CD Jávea against Benidorm — played in a fantastic atmosphere at the Camp d’Esports Municipal, with more than 1,200 fans in the stands and a strong visiting contingent.

Both teams came out hungry for the win. Maverick had the first chance with a low shot that flashed just in front of Fer’s goal, before Aldo made a crucial block at the other end. The game quickly turned into an end-to-end battle. Cobo set up Álvaro for a good opportunity, but his shot flew over the bar. Jávea kept pushing, and from a fine Maverick cross, Adrián headed against the crossbar. Just two minutes later, Adrián again went close, his powerful left-foot strike tipped over by Fer. Jávea went into the break clearly on top.

The second half told a different story. The same players, but a more cautious approach; neither side wanted to lose. The battle was fought mainly in midfield, with plenty of effort but few clear chances. One promising moment for Jávea was cut short by the assistant referee’s flag as Aliou raced through on goal. The closing minutes were tense. Jávea’s technical director was sent off for holding onto the ball, and shortly after, Jota received a red card for words best left unquoted in front of the assistant referee.

It was a thrilling evening of football, full of intensity and emotion, with the crowd fully behind the home side, who gave everything in search of victory. The draw sees CD Jávea climb to second place in the table, just one point behind leaders Benidorm.

CD JÁVEA: Fede, Josep, Joan Pedro, Paolo, Aldo, Lucas, Edu (Joel, 81´), Joan, Adrián, Maverick, Aliou.

CF BENIDORM: Fer, Hugo, Héctor (Maturana, 72´), Alejo, Pato, Cuesta, Álvaro (Davi, 85´), Cobo, Jota, Cario (Requena, 72´), Emilio.

REFEREE: Alberto Romero was making his debut at this level and handled the first half well. In the second half, however, a touch of inexperience showed. He booked several players. For Jávea: Aldo, Aliou, and Joan; and for Benidorm: Álvaro, Héctor, Emilio, Pato, Maturana, Davi, and Jota. Jota was later sent off in the 90th minute.
