Martínez Mus: Benissa-Teulada TRAM Line 9 service will resume on August 1st
The Minister of the Environment visited the renovation works on the CV‑740 viaduct, which has caused traffic disruptions since July 4th.
Vicente Martínez Mus, Regional Minister of Environment, Infrastructure and Territory, has announced that train service between Benissa and Teulada will resume on Friday 1st August following the completion of emergency repairs on the CV‑740 viaduct of the Alicante TRAM system. “This week we successfully finished the load tests and remaining structural work, so trains will resume normal service along the entire Line 9 between Benidorm and Dénia,” Martínez Mus confirmed.
Martínez Mus, accompanied by Teulada’s mayor Raúl Llobell, visited the repair works on the viaduct, where the Valencian regional rail operator (FGV) began fixes several weeks ago on Line 9 (Benidorm–Dénia). Rail traffic along this stretch has been suspended since July 4.
The emergency project addressed structural defects in the bridge and removed potential safety risks for trains. The repairs, with a budget exceeding one million euros including construction management, were completed on schedule.

During the suspension, TRAM d’Alacant has provided a replacement bus service between Benissa and Teulada, which will end on Thursday 31st July. And to reduce the impact on road traffic, the works were carried out with the partial closure of the CV‑740, keeping one lane open in each direction. Short-term road closures will still be required in early August to remove equipment and finalise the site.
Martínez Mus highlighted that Line 9 completed its modernization on January 28th with the opening of the new Algar and Mascarat viaducts. “Now, as an emergency measure, we’ve had to carry out these repairs, taking another step toward improving this vital connection for mobility in the Marina Alta and Baixa regions,” he said.
“In the past six months, more than 600,000 passengers have travelled on Line 9 between Benidorm and Dénia. It is the fastest-growing Alicante TRAM line this year, with average passenger volume up more than 10% compared to 2024,” the regional minister added.
