Xàbia’s Local Police have arrested a 22-year-old man for an alleged offense against public health during a recent surveillance operation in the Thiviers area.

The incident occurred when Citizen Security units noticed a vehicle being driven suspiciously and instructed the driver to pull over. During the identification process, officers observed several signs that could link the driver to possible criminal activity. An initial search uncovered a significant amount of cash in small denominations, an element often associated with street-level drug dealing.

Based on these indications, the officers conducted a more thorough search with the support of Kosmo, a specialized police dog. The dog repeatedly signaled the handle of a crutch the detainee was carrying inside the vehicle. Upon inspection, officers found several small bags containing a substance that, pending forensic confirmation, is believed to be cocaine.

The individual was arrested and taken in for processing, and all seized materials were placed at the disposal of the Guardia Civil’s Main Post for continuation of judicial proceedings.

Xàbia’s mayor, Rosa Cardona, and the councilor responsible for Citizen Security, Juan Ortolá (CpJ), praised the professionalism, coordination, and effectiveness demonstrated by the officers involved. They also highlighted that this type of intervention reinforces the commitment of both the local council and the local police to protecting residents and preventing criminal activity related to drug trafficking.
