FB Redován CF was established in 2003, the third incarnation of a football club in the town after previous versions in the 1980s and early 2000s.
Starting at the bottom tier, the Segunda Regional, the club made an immediate impact by winning Group 12 in its debut season, earning promotion to the Primera Regional. In 2004/05, Redován continued its rapid rise, finishing runners-up in Group 7 to secure another promotion—this time to the Regional Preferente, then the highest level of regional football in the Comunidad Valenciana. Remarkably, the club had climbed three divisions in as many seasons.
Life in the Preferente proved more difficult. A 12th-place finish in 2005/06 was followed by relegation the next year after finishing in the bottom three, sending the team back to the Primera Regional. Redován spent the next nine seasons at that level before finally winning Group 8 in 2015/16, edging CF UD Ilicitana by a single point to return to the Regional Preferente.
The club then enjoyed its longest sustained spell at that level, spending seven consecutive seasons in the Preferente. A highlight came in 2021/22, when Redován reached the Round of 32 of the Copa Comunitat Mediterrànea – La Nostra Copa, beating CF Atlético Algorfa and CD Murada before losing to CD Almoradí on penalties after a 2-2 draw. The following year, they went one stage further, reaching the Round of 16 thanks to wins over SC Torrevieja FC, CD Almoradí, and local rivals Callosa Deportiva CF, before bowing out against CD L’Alcora.
In 2022/23, Redován finished 7th in Group 4 of the Preferente, a position that secured a place in the newly created Lliga Comunitat FFCV. The club placed 6th in the competition’s inaugural season, some way short of the promotion contenders, and followed that with a 12th-place finish in 2024/25.
We’ve Met Before
CD Jávea and RB Redován CF have met six times since the first meeting in mid-December 2005 when the hosts ran out 2-1 winners at the Estadio Municipal de Redován, knocking CD Jávea out of the top three. The rojiblancos got suitable revenge in early May 2006, winning 2-0 at the Campo d’Esports Municipal.
The following season, CD Jávea took four points off FB Redován CF (2-0, 1-1) in a campaign that saw both clubs battling against relegation, the latter eventually suffering the drop.
The clubs would have to wait more than 15 years before meeting again, this time in the inaugural Lliga Comunitat FFCV. A 2-3 defeat down in Redován was the rojiblancos’ sixth defeat in the first eight games of the 2023/24 season whilst the 1-1 draw at the Campo d’Esports Municipal in late March kicked off a run of seven games with just one defeat which momentarily raised hopes of avoiding relegation.
