CONTRACT AWARDED FOR CONTROL OF FERAL CAT COLONIES IN XÀBIA

The 38,000 EUR contract will involve the sterilization of both male and female feral cats in the municipality.

The Department of Animal Welfare in Xàbia has awarded the contract to control feral cat colonies through sterilization to a local veterinarian who offers a 5% discount on the unit price of the service.

The contract, worth some 38,000 EUR, will be carried out over the next eight months and will involve the sterilization of both male and female cats as well as chip implantation. And the responsible department is already working on the preparation the next contract for veterinary assistance and emergency services, under the guidance of local veterinarians.

Councillor Fátima Jarjor (PP-Animal Welfare) explained that the local government is committed to the control of feral cat colonies in the municipality, a job in which volunteer associations also play a fundamental role.
