Comunidad Valenciana hotels reach record overnight stays in September
International tourism drives a historic high, with more than 3.2 million nights booked across the region.
Hotels across the Comunidad Valenciana recorded a total of 3,245,441 overnight stays in September, representing a 2.1% increase compared to the same month in 2024, according to data published on Thursday by Spain’s National Statistics Institute (INE). It is the highest figure ever recorded for a September in the region.
The INE report also highlights a notable rise in the number of travellers, which reached 942,618, up 2.7% year-on-year. By origin, domestic travellers increased by 1.2%, while international visitors grew by 4.4%. Foreign tourism led the growth in overnight stays, rising 4.2%, while the domestic market remained stable.
The Regional Minister for Innovation, Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Marián Cano, said the results “confirm a historic record both in overnight stays and in the number of travellers for a September in the Comunidad Valenciana.” She also pointed out that the region experienced the strongest growth in international overnight stays among Spain’s main destinations.
According to the same INE hotel survey, 67.9% of available hotel rooms were occupied in September, the third-highest rate among major Spanish tourist regions, following the Balearic Islands (81.4%) and the Canary Islands (74.1%). The total number of hotel beds offered in the region also increased to 154,332, up 3% from September 2024.
Year-to-date balance: January–September
Between January and September, hotels in the Comunidad Valenciana accumulated a total of 25,148,878 overnight stays, a 1% increase compared to the same period last year. The total number of travellers also rose to 7,866,612, up 1.4% year-on-year.
Minister Marián Cano remarked that “we have surpassed 25 million overnight stays so far this year, the highest figure ever recorded. These numbers reflect the strength of the tourism sector in the Comunidad Valenciana and show that our region remains an attractive destination for visitors.”
