The Third Vice Presidency and the Regional Ministry for the Environment, Infrastructure, Territory and Recovery has granted Club Náutico de Xàbia a new extension of its concession to build and operate a nautical and leisure area in the Port of Xàbia. The agreement includes a commitment to carry out improvement and modernization works valued at more than five million euros.

Marc García Manzana, Director General for Coasts, Ports and Airports, highlighted the Generalitat Valenciana’s commitment to “revitalising the ports of the Comunidad Valenciana through public-private collaboration,” noting that the Club Náutico de Xàbia is a clear example of this approach.

The concession, originally awarded in 1981 and previously extended in 2021, has now been prolonged by a further 22 years. This extension will run from 9 June 2031 to 8 June 2053, within the legal maximum term of 75 years.

The renewal also expands the concession area, which will now include a total of 7,386 square metres of land and 32,974 square metres of water surface. These additional areas are incorporated under the same terms and timeframe and will allow the planned facilities set out in the project to be developed.

García Manzana explained that the five-million-euro investment includes the construction of a new car park with more than 100 spaces, designed to blend into the surroundings through the use of natural stone, corten steel and gardens featuring native plant species. The car park will be topped off with a lookout terrace offering “spectacular views across the whole Bay of Xàbia.”

From a nautical perspective, the project also includes the construction of a new pontoon to make better use of the port’s water area, as well as upgrades to existing facilities to make them more open and better aligned with the architectural style of the surrounding buildings.

“With this decision, the Generalitat ensures the continuity of the Club Náutico de Xàbia’s activities, providing long-term stability for the concession and encouraging investment in facilities that are key to both recreational boating and port activity in the municipality,” García Manzana said.

The concession maintains the standard set of obligations, including compliance with current regulations, obtaining all required licences, permits and authorisations, payment of the corresponding port fees, and the implementation of safety, prevention and environmental management measures.

On the financial side, the agreement sets out the applicable fee structure, the guarantees required for operating the concession and carrying out the works, as well as the deadlines for submitting construction projects and the various management, maintenance and emergency plans.
