Adrián Gil’s first-half strike seals a hard-fought 1–0 win in a match of sacrifice, solid defending and late drama.

With grit, sweat and no small amount of tears, CD Jávea completed their first double of the season, and only the second in their history against CD Olímpic, edging past their rivals thanks to a goal from Adrián Gil. The victory also extended Jávea’s unbeaten run to four matches. For this encounter, coach Ivorra had to cope with two key absences, Lucas and Aliou. Facing them was a side that dominated the midfield, while the home team, through sheer effort, battled against a very strong opponent.

The first half produced few chances. Isac fired over the bar, and Nico denied the visitors in a one-on-one to prevent the opening goal. Jávea made the most of their clearest moment when Maverick surged brilliantly down the left, pulled the ball back, and Adrián finished clinically to find the net. That strike sent the teams into the break with the hosts ahead.

The second half followed a similar script. Olímpic continued to control the centre of the pitch, but the home defence was flawless, leaving no space for the Setabenses. Jávea’s first real chance after the interval came from a well-worked team move, finished by Josep straight into Javi’s hands. Olímpic then went close through Viti, who beat Nico but sent his shot wide. The final scare came from Emilio, whose superb free kick forced Nico into a spectacular save, tipping the ball out for a corner.

After eight minutes of added time, the final whistle was met with joy from the home supporters. Today it must be said that the team fought themselves to exhaustion. The only sour note was the tears of Edu, who was forced off injured and, pending further tests, was suffering significant pain and swelling in his left wrist.

CD Jávea: Nico, Josep, Isac, Joan Pedro, Aldo (Nico, 80’), Paolo, Edu (Mateo, 68’), Joan, Adrián, Maverick (Joel, 90+), Maxi (Cabo, 80’).

CD Olímpic: Javi, Carles, Raúl, Nico, Santi (Migue, 63’), Sergio (Jean Carlo, 63’), Tobías (Lucho, 63’), Oscar, Viti (Emilio, 76’), Alex Díaz, Alex Tormo (Izan, 76’).

Goal: 1–0, 41st minute, Adrián Gil.

Referee: Alberto Pérez Payá, assisted by Jacinto Pomar and Pablo García. Yellow cards for Jávea players Joan Pedro, Maxi, Aldo, Adrián and Nico Sanjuán; Óscar was booked for Olímpic.

The match was played on Sunday morning in front of a smaller crowd than usual. The clash with the San Sebastián bull-running festivities kept many fans away. It would be worth considering Sunday afternoon kick-offs to attract more supporters. CD Jávea will play their next two matches away from home, next week at UD Carcaixent and the following one at league leaders CF Benidorm.
