Club History
Although competitive football has been present in Alberic since the early 1960s, the current incarnation of CE Alberic was established in 2014 as a phoenix club following the dissolution of its predecessor that same year. Granted a place in Group 10 of the Segunda Regional – the lowest tier of the regional football pyramid – the club performed strongly in its first three seasons, consistently finishing in the top four. Ahead of the 2017–18 season, CE Alberic switched to Group 9, where they went on to claim the group title, finishing two points clear of Algemesí CF and winning promotion to the Primera Regional.
A 12th-place finish in Group 5 was followed by another championship season, as CE Alberic topped the same group at the conclusion of the pandemic-shortened 2019–20 campaign, finishing one point ahead of Almusafes CF. This triumph earned the club promotion to the Regional Preferente—the highest tier of regional football in the Comunidad Valenciana—for the first time in its history.
The 2021–22 season saw the club reach the Round of 16 in the inaugural Copa Comunitat: La Nostra Copa. CE Alberic progressed by defeating UD Castellonense (2–0), UD L’Alcudia (2–0), and SD Sueca (on penalties after a 1–1 draw) in the earlier rounds, before narrowly losing 5–4 on penalties to CF UD Calpe following another 1–1 draw.
In the league, the club achieved its highest-ever finish, ending 7th in Group 3. In the following season, CE Alberic finished in the bottom half of the group, which, due to a restructuring of regional football in the Comunidad Valenciana, resulted in the club effectively being “relegated” to the newly formed second-tier Primera FFCV.
A third-place finish at the end of the 2023–24 season was followed by a championship campaign the next year, with CE Alberic winning Group 3 of the Primera FFCV, three points ahead of CF Promeses Sueca. This triumph secured the club’s promotion back to the top tier – now called the Lliga Comunitat – for the 2025–26 season.
Head to Head Record
CD Jávea and CE Alberic Sucemart – the current incarnation – have met twice before and the rojiblancos can boast a 100% record after achieving the ‘double’ with a 2-1 away win in mid-November 2022 followed by a 3-0 win at the beginning of April 2023, a victory that kicked off a run of five successive wins which placed the Jávea into the top half of the group and ultimately win a place in the inaugural Lliga Comunitat for the following season.
An interesting historical note: CD Jávea suffered their heaviest ever defeat – 0-12 – at the hands of a previous incarnation of CE Alberic in mid-April 1974, a season in which the rojiblancos finished rock bottom of the Regional Preferente with just 18 points from 38 games, the club’s worst ever campaign in which it shipped almost 100 goals and were relegated to the Primera Regional where it remained until the mid-1980s.
