Valencian Tourism Jobs Lead Spain in February Growth
Strong gains in hospitality and travel sectors reinforce the Comunitat Valenciana’s position as a top employment driver.
The Regional Minister for Industry, Tourism, Innovation and Trade, Marián Cano, has “very positively” receiveded the latest tourism employment figures for February, which place the Comunidad Valenciana as the leading autonomous community in Spain for tourism job growth. This follows its already top-ranking performance in January in relative terms.
According to data published by Turespaña, affiliated employment in hospitality, travel agencies, and tour operators in the Comunidad Valenciana rose by 7,489 workers compared to the same month last year, marking a 3.8% increase, the highest among all regions in Spain.
Total employment in these sectors reached 206,678 workers in February in the Comunidad Valenciana. Of these, 165,730 are salaried employees and 40,948 are self-employed. Salaried employment grew by 4.4% year-on-year, while self-employment saw a 1.1% increase.

These figures highlight the dynamism of the Valencian tourism sector, which continues to establish itself as one of the region’s key economic engines, with employment growth outperforming the national average.
Marián Cano emphasized that “the growth in tourism employment in the Comunidad Valenciana demonstrates the sector’s vitality and its significant contribution to economic expansion.” She added that “these figures confirm the region’s position as a competitive destination capable of generating sustained employment.”
She also reaffirmed the regional government’s commitment to the tourism sector, “promoting policies that enhance competitiveness, innovation, and sustainability, with the aim of continuing to create jobs and prosperity across our territory.”
