Mayor Rosa Cardona has unveiled the Xàbia Digital Tourist Viewpoint at the International Tourism Fair, FITUR in Madrid. This innovative project allows anyone, anywhere in the world, to discover Xàbia in an immersive and accessible way, with a special focus on families and children’s tourism.

The initiative brings together 3D modelling, interactive virtual tours and high resolution 360 degree photography to create a digital experience that lets users wander through the town’s most iconic spots, learn about its heritage and even step inside some of its most distinctive buildings. As the mayor explained, it is a fun and safe way to get to know Xàbia before visiting, designed so children can enjoy it too.

More than a promotional tool, the Digital Tourist Viewpoint is also a resource for accessibility. It enables people with reduced mobility, or those unable to travel, to experience Xàbia from home. At the same time, it acts as a global showcase, highlighting everything Xàbia offers as a family friendly destination and sharing its character, landscapes and history with visitors around the world.

The platform offers both a broad overview and detailed exploration through a large format aerial image that connects to five individual viewpoints covering Xàbia’s historic centre, the port area of Duanes de la Mar, the Arenal beach and the northern and southern coastline. Users can explore 40 high resolution 360 degree images, 29 virtual tours and more than 50 interactive information points. The technology includes natural day to night transitions within the 360 degree images and works seamlessly on mobile phones, tablets and computers. Content is available in Spanish, Valencian and English, with audio at various points to further enhance accessibility.

As part of this digital evolution, the mayor also announced the rollout of physical beacons across the town. These will provide real time information on site, strengthening accessibility and enriching the visitor experience.

“The Digital Tourist Viewpoint is much more than technology,” Rosa Cardona said. “It is an open door to Xàbia’s identity and heritage, designed to help families plan their holidays in a safe and enjoyable way, and to allow anyone, from anywhere in the world, to feel and connect with our town before they visit.”
