Valencia puts tender out to design upgrades for six coastal outfall pipelines including Xàbia
EPSAR launches project drafting to renew submarine outfalls in Jávea Arenal, Vinaroz, Oropesa del Mar, Cullera, Gandía and Denia.
The Valencian Government, through the Public Entity for Wastewater Sanitation (EPSAR), has launched a €1,647,618 tender for the drafting of construction projects to renew the submarine outfall pipelines serving the wastewater treatment network in Jávea-Arenal, Vinaroz, Oropesa del Mar, Cullera, Gandía and Denia. The goal is to ensure their structural integrity and proper operation.
This initiative forms part of EPSAR’s annual works plan to equip municipalities with adequate wastewater and sanitation infrastructure, as well as to upgrade or expand existing facilities.
Submarine outfalls discharge previously treated water from wastewater treatment plants into the coastal environment. These effluents undergo processes that ensure protection of the receiving waters under normal operating conditions. Over the years, various renewal and repair works have been carried out to maintain the safety and operability of these systems.
To that end, EPSAR conducts structural monitoring every year. Its most recent reports identified the need to overhaul the outfalls in Jávea-Arenal, Vinaroz, Oropesa del Mar, Cullera, Gandía and Denia, using updated designs that guarantee proper structural and environmental performance.
The tender covers the drafting of projects that specify design solutions for sizing, routing, materials and equipment, including pumping stations and other upstream installations, all in line with legal requirements and with criteria of robustness, functionality and environmental protection.
To streamline implementation, the contract has been divided into three independent lots. Lot 1 covers Vinaroz and Oropesa del Mar (Castellón) with a budget of €534,653.63; Lot 2 covers Cullera and Gandía (Valencia) with €570,766.32; and Lot 3 includes Denia and Jávea Arenal (Alicante) with €542,198.70.
