Xàbia is getting ready to host its very first Nit Jove on Saturday 29th November, transforming the Plaza de la Constitución into a youth-friendly hub from 6 p.m. until midnight. The initiative, organised by the Department of Youth, the CAX and Playjove, marks the International Children’s Rights Day, and it’s all about giving local teens an evening dedicated entirely to them.

“We tend to overlook teenagers,” said the councillor responsible for Youth, Raquel Violero (PP). “That’s why, together with our Adolescence Council, we wanted to create an afternoon just for them.”

The event is aimed at young people aged 13 to 18, who can pick up a free access wristband from Tuesday 25th November at Playjove during regular hours or through the youth representatives in their schools.

The evening kicks off with board games and a lively round of bingo featuring prize vouchers for local shops, a small nod to supporting Xàbia’s businesses. At the same time, the Youth Council will run a stand to encourage youth participation and gather opinions, along with a rights-themed game, La paella dels Drets, sponsored by the Comisión de Fiestas Mare de Déu de Loreto. Players can learn about teen rights, while also taking home a small gift.

As dinner time rolls in, a relaxed cabasset meal is planned, where everyone can bring their own sandwich or grab discounted pizzas courtesy of Pizzería Mi Casa. A soft-drink bar run by students from the municipal bartender course will also be open, giving them a chance to practice their skills.

To round off the night, DJ Nacho Rodríguez will take over from 8.00pm to midnight, setting the tone for a space where teens can unwind, connect and celebrate.

The event is a homegrown initiative dreamed up by the young people of the CAX, made by teens, for teens across the municipality.
