Xàbia residents to rally for a cause that hits close to home
Participants will enjoy a scenic, accessible route along the port and Arenal Beach, complete with warm-up exercises, raffle prizes, and a festive atmosphere, all in support of cancer research and patient programs.
The town hall in Xàbia hosted the official presentation of the V Marcha Contra el Cáncer, a solidarity event that brings together hundreds of residents each year to raise awareness about cancer and fund vital research.
The press conference featured Toni Molina (PP), the councillor responsible for Sports; Raquel Violero (PP), the councillor responsible for Social Services and Health; and Carmen Hernández, president of the local branch of the Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer (AECC). All three highlighted the event as a powerful example of community spirit, empathy, and civic commitment.
The march will take place on Sunday, October 26th, starting at 10.00am from Avenida Jaime I in the port. The route is accessible and symbolic, taking participants down to Arenal Beach before returning to the starting point. Registration costs €7.00 and includes a race bib, commemorative t-shirt, and backpack. Each participant will also enter a charity raffle featuring gifts from local businesses and supporting organizations. Registration can be made online via the website somesport.es.
Before the event begins, there will be a group warm-up, and at the end, a cool-down session with music and stretching exercises. These activities aim to encourage participation and create a fun, healthy atmosphere for everyone involved.
All funds raised will go directly to the AECC to support research projects and programs providing care and assistance to patients and their families.
