Weather Update: Storm ‘Alice’ on the Horizon
The regional emergency centre has issued a special advisory for potential intense rain and thunderstorms, with the area around Cabo de la Nao most likely to be affected.
The threat of a new DANA – this one has been named ‘Alice’ – is real and fast approaching. According to forecasts, the first showers are expected to arrive inland by this evening Wednesday, with the Marina Alta region once again in the spotlight.
The Emergency Coordination Centre of the Generalitat Valenciana issued a special weather advisory on Tuesday afternoon, warning of “intense rain and storms that will affect much of the Comunidad Valenciana during the October bank holiday weekend.” The bulletin places the Marina Alta among the areas most likely to be hit.
Showers are forecast to move in from the interior today, spreading to the coast by early tomorrow morning Thursday. The advisory adds that these showers “will be accompanied by thunderstorms and may reach strong or locally very strong intensity, particularly around Cabo de la Nao in Xàbia.”

By Friday 10th, rainfall is expected to become more localised, but the bulletin notes that the area around Cabo de la Nao will remain the most likely spot to see further heavy downpours. The unsettled weather is predicted to continue into the weekend, with a risk of intense showers across much of the Comunidad Valenciana, especially between Cabo de la Nao and the Ebro Delta, and potentially spreading inland.
However, as the Emergency Centre stresses, there remains a high level of uncertainty with this type of weather system, making it difficult to predict the exact track of the storm. Authorities recommend closely following forecast updates and official warnings over the coming days.
Municipalities and emergency services are being urged to stay alert, review their action protocols, and prepare preventative measures as needed. For residents, it’s worth remembering that these alerts don’t mean heavy rain will definitely arrive, but that conditions make it possible. It’s sensible to take simple precautions: secure outdoor items, check drains and gutters, and stay informed through official channels.
