Fogueres 2026: Sofía Buigues and Paula Azorín, the new queens of Xàbia 

Excitement, nerves, and pure joy once again filled the Palau d’Esports Miguel Buigues Andrés de Xàbia last Saturday night as the town gathered for the election of the new Les Fogueres de Sant Joan officials. In front of hundreds of proud families, friends, and neighbours, Xàbia celebrated one of the most eagerly awaited nights of the fiesta calendar, an evening that marks the start of a brand-new chapter in this beloved tradition.

The night opened with the presentation of the Comisión Juvenil, followed by the young candidates for Infantil Queen, and finally, the much-anticipated arrival of Quintà 2026, those lively young people who will be coming of age next year and are destined to shine as the true stars of Fogueres 2026.

Then, as the clock crept toward midnight, anticipation reached its peak: the outgoing 2025 officials revealed the names of their successors. Cheers, applause, a few happy tears, and plenty of smiles filled the hall as the community welcomed its new charges. Stepping into the role of Fogueres Queen 2026 is Sofía Buigues, who will be joined by her ladies-in-waiting, Aitana Bisquert and Anna Martínez.

The Children’s Court will be led by Paula Azorín, whose name was drawn by the Infantil Queen 2025, Laia Sedeño. Paula will be accompanied by her ladies-in-waiting: Blanca Risueño and Ana Bisquert.

Meanwhile, the Comisión Juvenil will be headed by presidents Alba Berenguer and Carlos Cardona, and leading the Quintà 2026 will be Tania Ferrer and Tolet Buigues.

As tradition dictates, the evening also carried a spirit of generosity: part of the proceeds went to Cáritas Interparroquial de Xàbia. The celebration closed with heartfelt words from the councilor responsible for Fiestas, Mavi Pérez, and mayor Rosa Cardona, who expressed gratitude to the 2025 officials for their dedication and warmly encouraged the new 2026 charges to enjoy every moment of their year in the spotlight.
