Council launches new ‘Xàbia for Children’ website
Xàbia Council has launched a new “Xàbia for Children” website to give families easier access to resources, activities, and information supporting children and adolescents.
The Department of Children and Youth in Xàbia has launched a new section on its municipal website dedicated to children and adolescents. The initiative builds on the department’s commitment to making information and resources more accessible to families, following the creation of a family outreach channel earlier this year.
The launch also marks the implementation of the municipality’s Second Children’s Plan, recently approved, with the website designed as one of its key communication tools. The aim is to give young residents and their families clear, direct access to relevant information without the risk of getting lost in an overload of content.
Although still under development, the website is designed to grow with the community’s needs. The councillor responsible for Children and Youth, Raquel Violero, stressed that families are encouraged to contribute ideas, highlight missing resources, or report errors. The site, she explained, is intended to be a collaborative effort rather than a one-sided resource.
Currently, the website includes:
- Home Page: Featuring Xàbia’s recognition as a Child-Friendly City, information on the Second Plan for Children and Adolescents, and links to the Youth Department’s social media and family outreach channel. Consolidating this material on the municipal site improves accessibility, especially for those who do not use social networks.
- Children’s Council Subsection: Explains the role of the Xàbia Children’s Council, its members, and its achievements, accompanied by a photo gallery tracing its history since 2011. The section will also publish updates on the group’s ongoing work.
- Infrastructure Section: Still under construction, this section currently offers an interactive map showing public spaces dedicated to children and adolescents. In time, it will provide detailed information on each facility, including resources, schedules, accessibility, and more.
Violero highlighted that families had specifically requested this resource, and for that reason, it was important to make it available in time for the new school year, even if incomplete. She views the ongoing development as a positive, giving families the chance to take an active role in shaping the site through different participation channels. She also noted that the project serves as a reminder of both the progress already made and the work still to come, with the ultimate goal of making Xàbia ever more family- and child-friendly.
