More than 10,000 candles, one unforgettable night
After the success of last year’s inaugural event, the narrow streets and squares of the historic centre will be bathed in candlelight for one special evening.
On Saturday 23rd August, the historic centre of Xàbia will once again be bathed in the warm glow of more than 10,000 candles for one of its most enchanting events – The Night of San Bartolomé by Candlelight. Streets, squares, and hidden corners will flicker with light, blending with live music and the gentle hum of locals and visitors to create a truly magical atmosphere.
After the huge success of last year’s inaugural edition, which drew thousands of people, this year promises to be even more spectacular. As dusk falls, the streetlights will be switched off, slowing the pace of the evening. Façades will take on a new life in the candlelight, and every corner will become a small stage for memorable moments.
The evening begins at 7.00pm with the Mass of San Bartolomé, followed by the candle lighting at 7.45pm. At 8.30pm, At 8:30 p.m., there will be a Holy Hour with Hakuna, a Catholic youth movement known for its contemporary worship music that blends prayer with modern, uplifting melodies.
The event is organised by the Parish of San Bartolomé, in collaboration with Xàbia Council, the Xàbia Històrica Trade Association, and the municipal water company AMJASA. Coinciding with this magical night, Xàbia Històrica will also celebrate its Summer Night, keeping shops in the historic center open and hosting live music in four locations to add to the atmosphere.
The local council invites everyone to stroll, listen, photograph, and truly live this experience — because some nights can’t be described, only felt.
