Xàbia Jazz returns for 2025 with a top-notch international lineup
The Xàbia Jazz Festival continues its journey with an edition that focuses on quality, musical diversity, and free access to culture.
The Xàbia Jazz Festival, one of the municipality’s most iconic summer cultural events, returns this August with a top-notch lineup combining international talent, innovative offerings, and a high-quality musical experience for all audiences.
On Monday morning, the councillor responsible for Culture, Mavi Pérez (CpJ), and the department’s technical director, Irene Buigues, presented the lineup and they both highlighted the consolidation of this festival as one of the great summer musical events in Xàbia.
“Summer is here again this year, and with it our music festivals,” Mavi Pérez began. “Today we have the pleasure of presenting the Xàbia Jazz lineup, arguably our most iconic and international. It will take place, as usual, during the first week of August, with free admission.” She also highlighted the work of the Department of Culture: “I would especially like to thank Irene Buigues for her dedication and the effort she puts in throughout the year to ensure initiatives like this succeed and consolidate Xàbia as a cultural landmark.”
As a major new feature, in addition to the three concerts scheduled for August 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in Plaça de la Constitució, this year there will be a documentary screening at the Cine Jayan, one of the town’s cultural gems. The documentary, Chaplin, Espíritu Gitano, directed by Carmen Chaplin, will be screened on Saturday 2nd August at 6.00pm, with a nominal admission fee of €3. The music from this film will be the focus of the first concert that same evening.
For her part, Irene Buigues outlined the program for this twenty-third edition: “This lineup brings together top-level groups and soloists from the national and international scene,” she explained.
All concerts will be held at 10.30pm in Plaza de la Constitución.
Saturday 2nd August
STOCHELO & MOZES ROSENBERG TRIO with special guest COSTEL NITESCU
The music of Charlie Chaplin and more…
Brothers Stochelo and Mozes Rosenberg need no introduction for jazz lovers: Both are internationally recognized for their extraordinary talent, which, combined with their great guitar virtuosity and impeccable musical careers, has taken them to the best stages on five continents. On this occasion, together with the spectacular Romanian violinist Costel Nitescu, they present a new project dedicated to the compositions of the legendary Charlie Chaplin, rediscovering this little-known side of the brilliant actor and director as a composer.
Prior to this concert, the documentary Chaplin: Gipsy Spirit, directed by Carmen Chaplin, with the Rosenberg brothers composing the soundtrack, will be screened at the Jayan Cinema. This initiative, which combines film and music, is an excellent complement to the festival’s opening performance and a unique opportunity to enjoy the film, along with the chance to hear the film’s soundtrack performed live a few hours later by its creators.
Sunday 3rd August
ALEX CONDE AND LOS INDULTADOS + SANDRA CARRASCO
On the second day of Xàbia Jazz, the great Valencian pianist Alex Conde will take the stage. His career and recognition within the field of flamenco-jazz have long transcended our borders. Today, Conde is one of the most highly regarded performers of this style worldwide. Together with his group Los Indultados and the special collaboration of the excellent vocalist Sandra Carrasco, the Valencian pianist, arranger, and composer presents a well-crafted performance in which he masterfully revisits and updates great classics of traditional Spanish music. A surprising concert due to the sheer originality and quality of the project, which, with imaginative arrangements by a group of eleven musicians, reclaims and brings to the forefront a traditional repertoire that is part of our country’s collective imagination.
Monday 4th August
RAY GELATO & THE GIANTS
The closing concert of Xàbia Jazz will be led by one of the world’s leading figures in swing music: British singer and saxophonist Ray Gelato, who, along with his band The Giants, has been delighting international audiences for decades with his masterful combination of jazz, swing, and blues. Gelato and his band’s concerts are always a complete spectacle where constant fun goes hand in hand with quality, with impeccable performances and a spectacular stage presence. This has led him to perform at the best international festivals and jazz clubs and to be hired by figures such as Paul McCartney and the Queen of England to provide music for their private events. The irresistible charm of Gelato and his band is sure to captivate the audience, bringing this year’s festival to a close.
