In a way adapted to the current state of the pandemic, Xàbia proposes a Christmas schedule that is the result of consensus and the union of the councils of Economic Development, Sports and Children and Youth, the trade associations of the Historic Center, Aduanas del Mar and Arenal and the festival committees of Moros i Cristians, Fogueres and Mare de Déu de Loreto. It is proof of the joint intention that exists in the municipality, from different spheres, to recover the hope of the festive period, while maintaining prudence and security in the face of a continuing health situation.

For this reason, open spaces have been prioritized for activities and limited capacity for those carried out indoors. In addition, in all of them, the use of a mask and the maintenance of interpersonal distance will be mandatory. Likewise, the Council does not rule out the possibility of suspending any activity if the health situation worsens.

The main novelty of this edition comes from the hand of the nucleus of El Arenal that joins the schedule thanks to the initiative of its association of merchants.

Thus, on Wednesday 22nd December, the schedule starts with the arrival of Santa Claus to collect the letters from the boys and girls between 5.30pm and 8.00pm next to the Christmas tree in the heart of the historic centre. He will do the same on Thursday 23rd December next the Christmas tree on the Paseo Maritimo in the port from 11.00am to 1.30pm and next to the Christmas tree on Paseo Tenista David Ferrer in Arenal from 5.30pm to 8.00pm. For these encounters, Santa Claus has asked the little ones and their families to be prudent and careful.

During these two days there will also be other activities. On Wednesday Play Jove will start a photography contest until December 27th (terms and conditions on Instagram @playjove_xabia) and on Thursday Plaça de l’Esglèsia will host the children’s play Dorotea y Elfo at 5.00pm.

On Friday 24th December, the recreational spaces for the smallest of the three nuclei of the municipality will open their doors. They are located on Calle Mestre Ángel Palencia, 6 (next to the Post Office) from 10.30am to 1.00pm, on Paseo Jaume I in the port from 11.00am to 1.30pm, and on Paseo David Ferrer del Arenal (next to the Christmas tree) from 11.30am to 1.30pm. These children’s play areas will also be open on December 27th, 28th, 29th, 30th and 31st and January 3rd and 4th in the port and El Arenal and on December 30th and January 3rd, 4th and 5th in the Historic Center.

The artisan craft market will return to port on Sundays, December 26th and January 2nd, from 11.00am to 5.00pm.

From Monday 27th December to Wednesday 29th December, the Nadal Jove i Esportiu returns to its annual appointment with the children and youth of the municipality. In this edition, due to the health situation, it changes its location and moves to Plaça de la Constitució in a large open-air space. Its hours will be from 9.30 am to 1.30pm and in it, participants will be able to enjoy the proposals offered by the different sports clubs in the municipality and workshops. In addition, on Wednesday 29th December, a Dixieland band will tour the three nuclei filling the streets with the best music from the south of New Orleans.

On Thursday 30th December, the young people of the municipality will be able to enjoy a rowing activity at the Club Náutico de Jávea. This initiative requires prior registration that can be held on the 28th and 29th at the Nadal Jove i Esportiu yacht club space. In it, in addition, the club will have a fixed practice of rowing with which attendees will be able to check the technique and difficulty of this sporting modality that is having such a boom in the municipality. This same day, Play Jove will host a Christmas pastry workshop from 6.00pm to 8.00pm.

On Friday 31st December, if the health situation allows it, Plaça de l’Esglèsia will once again host the traditional daytime bells of Xàbia at 12 noon, a local tradition that anticipates the ritual of entering the New Year in a fun and family atmosphere. There will be capacity control.

On Monday 3rd and Tuesday 4th January, the Palau d’Esports Miguel Buigues Andrés will host an innovative proposal: La Casa del Grinch and Grinch Escape Room. Its hours will be from 10.30am to 2.00pm and from 4.00pm to 9.30pm and requires prior registration which can be made HERE for the activity of La Casa del Grinch and in HERE for the Grinch Escape Room. Both are free.

Regarding the specific programming around the arrival of Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar, their Majesties of the East have informed us that they will make it known in the coming days through the municipal officials.
