The Department of Social Services in Xàbia has created a new basic social care area in the Arenal, located in the Civic Punt building, which has a social worker, a social educator and an administrative assistant, a team that is complemented by the housing office which also has its headquarters in the same building.

The councillor responsible for Social Services, Rita Berruti, explained that the new territorial organization of social services in the Valencian region has enabled decentralization and that basic primary care in social matters can be brought closer to residents.

She added that it was decided to start with the Arenal zone to provide its residents with access to information, queries and procedures related to social services, such as dependency applications, large families, emergency aid, vulnerability reports, information on obtaining disability certification, non-contributory pensions, etc.

The social care area will be located in the Cívic Punt building – Carretera Cabo La Nao-Pla No. 122, on the corner with Calle Saint Tropez – where the usual activities of social revitalization will continue to be carried out, such as Spanish classes for foreigners, self-help groups for women, recreational activities for children, and school review classes, amongst others.
