Work resumes on resolving issues with municipal swimming pool
The mayor admits that there is still no definite date for the opening of the facility.

Work has begun on resolving the issues identified which continue to prevent the opening of the long-awaited municipal swimming pool to the public. Although the infrastructure was handed over to the local council in April 2024 on its completion, various technical problems were identified which, it was claimed by the local government, failed to guarantee health and safety at the facility.
Mayor Rosa Cardona confirmed that the contracted construction company has been carrying out some of the pending work to resolve the issues since the middle of last month, including the installation of better drainage channels to prevent water mixing between the two pool basins and avoiding potential contamination, a concern that was identified by the Department of Health.

The mayor explained that this problem was identified after a test conducted by members of the Llebeig Athletic Club and that the new system being installed will function as independent overflow drainage channels. She added that the floors in the shower rooms are also being replaced to ensure better drainage and prevent flooding.
With regards to the potential opening of the swimming pool complex, the mayor admitted that she couldn’t specify a particular date for doing so and it would only open when the facility meets all the necessary regulations to ensure the health and safety of its users.
