Turisme CV delivers Qualitur Flag to 206 beaches and coves in the region – but Xàbia is not one of them

By province, Castellón has received this award for 70 beaches in 11 municipalities; Valencia for 44 beaches in 17 destinations; and in the province of Alicante, the Qualitur flag will fly on 92 beaches in 12 municipalities.

Turisme Comunitat Valenciana has awarded the Qualitur 2025 Flag to a total of 206 beaches and coves in 40 municipalities in the region, recognizing their compliance with certified standards in quality, environment, and accessibility. This distinction endorses the excellence of the Comunidad Valenciana’s beaches as a tourist resource and reinforces their position as a sustainable, high-quality destination.

The Bandera Qualitur recognizes the efforts of municipalities that offer beaches with clean waters and well-maintained sands, surveillance measures that guarantee the safety of bathers, restrooms, recreation and leisure areas, environmental protection measures, and the guarantee of universal accessibility.

The Tourism Minister, Marián Cano, presented the flags at an event held in Finestrat, accompanied by the mayor of Finestrat, Juan Francisco Pérez Llorca, the regional secretary of tourism, José Manuel Camarero, and the director general of tourism, Israel Martínez.

During her speech, the regional minister highlighted that “40 of the 60 coastal municipalities in the Comunidad Valenciana will fly this flag during the summer,” while acknowledging that “it is the result of constant work and collaboration between public administrations and the private sector to raise the quality of our tourism offer”.

Furthermore, Cano emphasized that “we are at the beginning of the summer season, a key moment in which the Comunidad Valenciana is consolidating its position as a leading destination for our visitors” and noted that these flags reflect a “collective effort to guarantee clean, safe, accessible, and sustainable beaches.”

The regional minister praised “the dedication, professionalism, and passion with which we all work together for quality tourism” and asserted that “each of these flags flying represents the sum of many efforts and is recognition of a firm commitment to a competitive, sustainable, and accessible tourism model.”

She also emphasized that “certified quality and sustainability are a competitive advantage over other destinations. We want anyone who chooses the Comunidad Valenciana to do so with the peace of mind of knowing that our beaches meet the highest quality standards.”

141 certificates in quality, environment and accessibility

The Generalitat Valenciana, through Turisme Comunitat Valenciana, grants this Bandera Qualitur recognition to all beaches and coves in the region that hold a recognized certificate.The recognized standards of excellence are: ISO 9001 and Q for Tourism Quality in quality; ISO 14001, EMA Regulation, and S for Sustainability in environmental matters; and UNE 170001 in accessibility.

With this, the Comunidad Valenciana has 141 certificates distributed across 206 beaches and coves that will display the distinction during this summer in recognition of their commitment to excellence. Of these, 56% are in quality, followed by environmental matters, which represent 37.6% of the total certificates, and finally accessibility, at 6.4%.
