Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) is closing a stretch of Line 9 of the TRAM d’Alacant (Benidorm-Dénia) between the Benissa and Teulada stations from July 4th to 31st to carry out maintenance work on the CV-740 road viaduct in the municipality of Teulada.

While the works affecting the rail service are ongoing, TRAM d’Alacant will operate a replacement bus service so that passengers can transfer from train to bus, and vice versa, and connect between the Benissa and Teulada stops.

The work on the viaduct, which has been declared an emergency, is due to the detection of “defects that could affect the structural safety of the asset, the safety of people using it, or railway operations,” according to the report prepared after several inspections. Therefore, it has been decided to act as quickly as possible.

The budget for the maintenance is €1,105,871.73 and will have different phases, some affecting vehicle traffic first, which began on June 16th and will be completed between mid- and late August, and others affecting rail traffic, the aforementioned ones interfering with the Alicante TRAM service.
