The Generalitat Valenciana, through Turisme Comunitat Valenciana, has been promoting the cultural and gastronomic offering of the province of Alicante to the prestigious British newspaper The Times, which has participated in a press trip to the city of Alicante and Benidorm this week.

This is a press trip was organised together with Turespaña through the Spanish Tourist Office in London and Visit Benidorm. During the trip, the international media outlet visited various tourist sites in both destinations to prepare an article about the province, which will be published in the prestigious newspaper The Times.

In addition, it served to gather information that will be included in the book ‘The Great Escape‘, a work that will review the 400 years of travel and holiday history of the British people, and will include a chapter dedicated to the connection of British tourists with the Costa Blanca.

During the visit to the Alicante capital, the British representatives took a closer look at the ‘Hospes Amérigo’, one of the most iconic hotel establishments in the city and an article of more than 600 words will be prepared on this five-star hotel that occupies the former Dominican convent and is located in the heart of Alicante. The report, which will be published in the digital version of The Times, will detail the services offered by the hotel for the enjoyment and relaxation of visitors, as well as its gastronomic proposal in the Fondillón restaurant, one of the highlights of the hotel.

Afterwards, the group moved to Benidorm to gather information for one of the chapters of ‘The Great Escape’. In this chapter, the explosion of British tourism to Spain and the Mediterranean during the 50s and 60s will be addressed, with Benidorm being one of the main locations of that time. Visit Benidorm organised a programme of visits and meetings to inform the newspaper about the history and evolution of the tourist capital of the Costa Blanca.

With these types of initiatives, the Comunidad Valenciana continues to strengthen its position as a key tourist destination in Europe, offering British tourists a variety of cultural, gastronomic and leisure proposals that continue to attract thousands of visitors every year.
