The long-awaited municipal swimming pool is finally set to open, bringing a positive conclusion to its long-running saga stretching back some years. Starting Tuesday 1st July, the facility will welcome the public with an initial free admission phase along with complimentary swimming lessons for children.

During the months of July and August, access to the public bathing area will be completely free. This initiative, promoted by the town hall, aims to promote healthy lifestyle habits and provide families with an accessible and refreshing recreational resource during the hottest months. This decision was one of the promises made by mayor Rosa Cardona several months ago when its opening was still pending.

Swimming Courses for Children

In addition, free intensive swimming courses aimed at children aged between 3 and 12 years old will be on offer. The courses are organized into three levels based on their experience in the water: Initiation for those with no previous experience; Basic for those already familiar with the aquatic environment; and Intermediate for those who swim independently. Each group will work on specific aspects such as safety, buoyancy, breathing, technique and endurance.

The courses will be held Monday to Friday over two fortnights: July 1st-11th and July 14th-25th. Sessions will last 45 minutes and will be organized in three timeframes: from 9.00am to 9.45am, 10.00am to 10.45am, and 11.00am to 11.45am.

The groups will have a ratio of 6 to 8 students per instructor with an initial assessment to assign the appropriate level to each participant and progress monitoring that will conclude with the award of a final diploma. Registration is free and will be available from Wednesday 25th June through the official website of Xàbia Esports.

With regards of the management of the swimming pool, while the procedures for the municipal water company AMJASA to take over management of the pool are finalized, the town hall itself will be responsible for its operation during this transitional period.
