The improvements in La Barraca are pending a construction manager

The project has a term of six months and fifteen days.

Last November, the construction company Categor Obras y Proyectos took on the contract for the execution of the improvement works on Calle La Barraca, which gives access to the Cala del Portitxol in Xàbia, a project that has not yet started because a construction manager has not yet been appointed.

After awarding the works, the government team put out to tender the contract for the supervision of the project, an architect who must monitor that the construction company is following the forecasts of the construction project. That technical assistance contract was awarded earlier this month.

However, to date, work has not begun. This is because the winner of that supervision contract has since resigned, because he has become a father, and has stood up the council.

Thus, according to municipal sources, the technicians are studying whether the direction and supervision of the work to be carried out by the construction company is monitored by the staff of the council itself, a decision that has not yet been made one hundred percent.

Meanwhile, this administrative inconvenience has allowed Categor Obras y Proyectos to focus on finishing the works of the first sewage network in Camí Castellans that it has been working on since September and for which an extension to the deadline has been requested, which has been authorized by the municipal technicians.

The works on Calle La Barraca street and adjacent streets

The works on Calle La Barraca and the adjacent satreets, in what is collectively known as the PAI de Mar Azul, are to be carried out by the council by legal imperative in charge of the guarantee that the developer responsible for that urban project, the VAPF, put aside many years ago. The project has a term of execution of 6 months and 15 days, and will involve the installation of pavements, drainage and sewage pipes as well as the lighting of the zone, with some 175 lamp-posts, a project that will cost just over 1 million euros.

The deadline is the end of the month of June-July, so if it is not finished or suffer any unforeseen difficulties .. well, we’d better not think about it.
