Tuesday 28th September 2021 – PRESS RELEASE with Mike Smith

The Humana Pueblo Para Pueblo Foundation, which is in charge of the collection of unwanted textiles in Xàbia, is renewing the container network in order to offer a better selective collection service for used clothing, footwear, accessories and home textiles that citizens no longer use.

The non-profit entity started the process of substitution for the most deteriorated containers a few weeks ago. Of the 42 containers on public roads, half have already been renewed and the rest will be replaced in the coming weeks.

According to data provided by Humana, from January to August, 72,183 kg of used textiles were recovered in the municipality and given a second life through reuse or recycling. More than 72 tons recovered are equivalent to 324,000 garments that have not ended up as waste in a landfill and therefore avoiding the emission of 228 tons of CO2.
