Xàbia Council is to take advantage of funding offered by Dirección General del Deporte to modernize the municipal football stadium, updating the floodlights, replacing the electronic scoreboard, and adapting the perimeter fencing, a project that requires and investment of almost 149,000 euros and should take three weeks to complete.

Councillor Alberto Tur (Sports) explained that, when the Generalitat Valenciana published details of the funding which would be made available by the regional government for the adaption of sports facilities, the local council saw the opportunity to seek investment to improve the municipal football stadium in Freginal and commissioned a draft to be eligible for the funding.

He said that the established project responds to the three most essential needs of the football ground used by CD Jávea. The first is to replace the floodlights, which are used intensively for evening training sessions and regional league matches, with a more modern system that not only meets the requirements for competitions but also improves the energy efficiency of the stadium.

The next requirement is the replacement of the electronic scoreboard, which is in a poor state of repair and operation, with the latest generation 5 sqm LED video scoreboard which guarantees optimal viewing outdoors at great distances at low power consumption. It can used as a multi-sport electronic scoreboard as ell as an advertising and information resource or as an audiovisual support for all types of sporting and social events.

The third investment will be in the total replacement of the perimeter fence between spectators and the football pitch since the current fence has been deteriorating over the years.

The project, which has been priced at 148,895 euros and has been approved by decree, has already been submitted to the regional sports authorities to qualify for the funding.

The station was last updated four years ago when the artificial playing surface was replaced and the installation of a roof covering half of the main stand.
