Roberto Fernández returns home after spending a season at Calpe CF

He will cover the departure of Tali, who asked to leave the club for personal reasons.

Saturday 29th January 2022 – PRESS RELEASE with Mike Smith

Attacking midfielder Roberto Fernandez has returned to CD Jávea after spending a season at Calpe CF. After working up through the youth academy, Roberto made 86 senior appearances for the club between 2016 and 2020 and scored 12 goals before leaving for Calpe in 2020.

Natalio Mas “Tali” has decided to leave the club for personal reasons. He still lives in Benifaió, his home town, and the 190km round trip to train and play for CD Jávea has not made it easy to combine work commitments and football. After having made 11 appearances for the club this season, scoring six goals in the process, he bid farewell to his teammates on Tuesday.

On Thursday, Roberto returned to his home club to get to know his teammates, some familiar, some not, and told XAD that he was “tremendously happy” to be coming home.

In what conditions do you come to Jávea and how do you feel on a physical level?

Right now I’m here to help the team get out of the pothole they’re in. What I want to contribute to the team is to be able to help them. I was studying in Valencia and training on my own and I hope to be available to the coaching staff as soon as possible when they believe me to be physically fit.

How does you define yourself as a player?

What I like the most is playing at the top, I don’t mind about playing as a midfielder, a central midfielder. Last year with Pedro Molines at Calpe I played as a defensive midfielder although I’m always more comfortable near the opposing goal.

Roberto will most certainly not be available for the game against Atlético Benidorm this weekend since on Thursday he had not yet been able to pass the medical examination.

For many years, you’ve told us how much you love what we’re doing and some of you have even asked for ways to say thanks. For us, there really is nothing easier to show someone how much you appreciate their efforts than buying them a beer (or a wine; or even a coffee) – it’s so simple.
