The Council has found the solution to accessibility problems of the elevated section in Calle Santisimo Cristo del Mar (known as ‘el marge’) which has been demanded by residents in the port area for some time.

A removable ramp with a handrail on both sides was commissioned and today it is being installed to provide access to the elevated section by people with reduced mobility who have since now been forced to either scale steep steps or not visit the homes and restaurants along the section.

The solution has involved a municipal investment of 21,622 euros with local company Cerrajería Cholbi commissioned to construct the ramp and install it, which it has been doing today.

The ramp meets a longstanding demand by residents to improve accessibility. The construction of a fixed ramp was ruled out by municipal technicians since it would have been created on top of the drinking water pipes and building a ramp would have made repair to the network difficult.
