PHOTO GALLERY: Fogueres 2025 – The Start of the Magic: The Infantil Proclamation
Laia Sedeño was crowned as Infantil Queen accompanied by Triana Berenguer Rodríguez and Ángela Bastida De Lamo as her ladies-in-waiting.
On Friday evening, Xàbia kicked off the 2025 Fogueres de Sant Joan with the first major event of the programme: the Proclamation of the Children’s Queen, Laia Sedeño. The night also saw the presentation of her elegant ladies-in-waiting, Triana Berenguer Rodríguez and Ángela Bastida De Lamo, as well as more than 60 members of the Youth Committee and its two presidents and the 150 boys and girls who form the Court of Honour, marking a vibrant and emotional start to this year’s celebrations.
The event took place in a setting reminiscent of the sea, decorated with three traditional boats – “llaüts” – and a lighthouse as its main elements, alluding to the town’s seafaring identity. The proclamation of the Infantil Queen was based on a story that combined the symbolism of wishes and the light of the lighthouse.
In addition to the proclamation of the queens and her ladies-in-waiting, the new presidents of the youth committee, Marcos Tormos Mata and Celia Cardona Sancho, were also introduced and they will represent the younger members of the community during the festive year.
As is tradition, the event included emotional farewell speeches from the outgoing officials – the Infantil Queen 2024 Claudia García and her ladies-in-waiting, Lucía Bisquert and Gisela Devesa, as well as the youth presidents, Lucas Mata and Laura Sánchez – who took the opportunity to thank their families and friends for the support they received during their tenure and wished their successors success.
