Mayor José Chulvi and councillors Pere Sapena (Town Planning) and Paco Torres (Works) have visited the Arenal to inspect a special test of materials that are to be used to renovate the promenade along the beachfront. Representatives of the contractors who have been charged with carrying out these long overdue works showed the town hall officials as well as representatives from the beach business association a small sample of the proposed tiling design, a mosaic of sand-coloured ceramics which has been produced by a famous Valencian company. Tests have been conducted to check for resistence to spills and other possible problems that might be encountered in a popular public promenade next to the sea.

Also demonstrated to the officials were the solid white stone benches which will both serve as seating along the promenade as well as a seperation between it and the beach. The low wall which will run the length of promenade is to be punctuated with several steps onto the sand with special ramps to allow full accessibility.

The town hall officials were satisfied with the outcome of the tests on the proposed materials and acknowleged that the main renovation work should begin in late December. Mayor Chulvi confirmed that the project is progressing on schedule and that the bulk of the work should be completed by Easter 2013. He added that the contractor had requested that the work should be done in sections to guarantee as much access to the bars, restaurants and shops of the promenade as possible whilst the renovation is taking place, minimizing any inconvenience. He also stressed that there has been willingness and collaboration from the very beginning for a project that is being financed by the Department of Infrastructure having been selected by the town hall within the Plan Confianza initiative.
