Miguel, president of Club Náutico Jávea,
confirmed the importance of this international sailing
regatta during a presentation at the Ayuntamiento,
outlining its impact on promoting the town and allowing
some of the sport's elite to enjoy some spectacular
sailing in the wide bay. He added that there is an education
aspect to the regatta with the general public being
able to enjoy the event through special commentary positions.
For these reasons, it was decided to maintain the top
quality of the event, despite the economic constraints
imposed by the ongoing financial crisis.
José Chulvi praised the club for committing itself
to continuing with the trophy event despite the difficult
times and also for their efforts in making sailing more
accessible to all. He also noted the positive impact
that the event can have on tourism in the town, scheduled
as it is during the Easter holidays.
