Arantza Reig, member of Club Náutico de Jávea and an experienced young sailor in the Optimist A dinghy class, is to take part in the Optimist Spanish Championships that begin today Monday 27th July, the first sailing event to be held nationally in Spain since the COVID-19 health crisis was declared and re-scheduled after postponement in April.

The championships will be taking place at the Asociación Náutico-Deportivo Juan Montiel in Águilas in the Region of Murcia and will have four categories: male and female U-13s and male and female U-16s. Reig will be attending alongside 19 other young sailors from the Comunidad Valenciana and will be supported by her coach from the sailing club, Julián Vicano. The participants will be engaging in training sessions today and tomorrow with the competition heats starting on Wednesday

Around 150 competitors from 11 autonomous communities will be participating including Cataluña, Andalucía, Baleares, Canarias, Galicia and Pais Vasco and the event will be subject to strict health protocol measures including access controls, daily body temperatures checks, the use of face masks by all and the guarantee of required minimum social distancing.

Arantza Reig disputa el Campeonato de España de Optimist

La regatista de la flota de Optimist A del Club Náutico de Jávea, Arantza Reig, participa esta semana en el Campeonato de España de Optimist que se disputa en el puerto deportivo Juan Montiel que está en Águilas (Murcia).

Reig acude al campeonato junto con otros 19 regatistas de la Comunitat Valenciana, y el entrenador del Club Náutico de Jávea, Julián Viciano. En total son 150 los regatistas que se darán cita en esta prueba.

Tanto Reig como Viciano llegaron este domingo a Águilas y a partir de este lunes comenzarán los entrenamientos previos y las mediciones, y no será hasta el miércoles cuando comience la competición.
