With the 2019/20 season brought to a premature end by the COVID-19 health crisis, CD Jávea have already begun to prepare for the next campaign in which it has high hopes to improve on its performances in recent seasons and gain promotion to the national category for the first time in 25 years. After Diego Miñana was named as head coach at the end of last month, the club has confirmed that three key players will be staying on to help the club with its ambitions next season.

Juan Guerrero is a proven goalscorer and claimed 16 goals last season. The 30-year-old, a native of San Joan d'Alacant, has scored 139 goals in his senior career at several clubs including CD Dénia, Villajoyosa CF, CF La Nucia amongst others and has Third Division experience with FC Jove Español.

Midfielder Alvaro Lopez is extending his second spell at the club after he returned last season from a spell in the Third Division with Rayo Ibense CF. A tricky young player who has the confidence to attack from the centre of the park, he has scored 27 goals in his short career, 15 of which have been for Jávea. Many observers consider that he has great potential and drive to become on the club's premium players next season.

Many fans will be pleased to see Ayoze Espinar agree to stay for a fourth season. The 25-year-old defender was one of the club's most consistent players last season, featuring in all but one of the 26 matches played. His confident charges down the right flank continued to confuse opposition defenders and delight the fans.

Heading out of the club is striker Rubén Ortolá who this week signed for UD Calpe, leaving his home club to seek better opportunities elsewhere.

CD Jávea placed fifth in the Group III league table for the 2019/20 campaign after the season was finally brought to a close by the Valencian Football Federation.
