AEMET WEATHER WARNING - POTENTIAL FOR HEAVY RAIN THIS WEEKEND

javeamigos.com | AEMET WEATHER WARNING - POTENTIAL FOR HEAVY RAIN THIS WEEKEND

The good news just keeps coming.

The state meteorological agency AEMET has issued a yellow alert risk warning for the potential of heavy rain in our region, valid for Saturday 21st March. The specific risk begins at 6.00pm on Saturday evening with a 40%-70% probability of heavy rain with an accumulation rate of 20mm in one hour, valid until midday on Sunday 22nd March, just in time for the communal singing from the balconies.

The issue of such a warning doesn't mean that it will definitely happen but that the forecast conditions suggest that there is a possibility that it will do so. An update from MeteoXàbia in response to the publication of the alert suggests that the likelihood is that the rain would not be so heavy in our specific area of the alert zone which covers almost 760 square kilometres of a mix of mountainous and coastal zones. "A moderate episode of rain with some accumulation ... a lot would have to change to see us experience remarkable accumulations and if we reach 20/30 litres then I will find it to be a lot."

The rain and showers are expected to last well into next week with maximum temperatures rarely topping 18°c-20°c.
