PARTIDO POPULAR SUPPORTS RESIDENT UNEASE ABOUT GATA ROAD
The new road markings along the CV-734 Carretera de Gata-Jávea are not popular

JAVEA NEWS | PARTIDO POPULAR SUPPORTS RESIDENT UNEASE ABOUT GATA ROAD

Almost a month has passed since a provisional road marking measure was carried out along much of the length of the CV-734, the road that links Xàbia with Gata de Gorgos, and residents living in the area are not happy and the Partido Popular are supporting their unease about the safety measure.

Some seven kilometres of continuous line have been painted along the middle of the road over which vehicles are prohibited from crossing. This means that residents wishing to turn left towards their homes in the zones alongside the main road have to continue to find a suitable and safe place to turn and in some cases this means that they have to drive up to twelve kilometres to access their homes.

The regional authority which is responsible for the road agreed to identify five points where a broken line will allow a left-turn across the oncoming traffic after discussion with municipal management. But the Partido Popular claims that the solution, in the absence of the building of the proposed roundabouts along the road, has not been the response sought by the resident representatives who add that many people still can't access their homes directly and still have to travel several kilometres further to find a safe spot to turn around. It is not, they say, a temporary or short-term measure.

The Partido Popular has called on mayor José Chulvi to acknowledge the unease of the affected residents and continue to work with the regional authorities to return direct accessibility to roads with homes and businesses. They say that the roundabouts should come first and then the double-line road markings should be implemented.
