SCHOOLS GET INVOLVED IN 'NO EXCUSES' DOG CAMPAIGN
The campaign appeals to dog owners to clean up after their pets

JAVEA NEWS | SCHOOLS GET INVOLVED IN 'NO EXCUSES' CAMPAIGN

Councillor Kika Mata (Services) has been visiting the schools of Xàbia to encourage the students to get involved in the 'No Excuses' campaign recently launched by the Ayuntamiento de Xàbia to appeal to dog owners to clean up after their pets in the streets and public areas of the municipality.

The councillor distributed a number of the special bottles to the children as well as pamphlets which inform the students of how to be a good pet owner. The Ayuntamiento is keen to get the young members of the community involved in the campaign since they represent the municipality's future and it is important for them to be aware from an early age of the challenge to achieve "a clean Xàbia for all".

The 'Sin Excusas" campaign was launched to appeal to dog owners to clean up after their pets, declaring that "there is no excuse" not to do so. In addition to the usual issue of unsightly piles of faeces in public spaces which also raises a health risk, the initiative is trying to address the problem of indiscriminate urination by the animals which, aside from the bad smell, is also causing the damage to litter bins, lampposts, rubbish containers and benches.
